| | | Well it has been a hectic and fun few weeks since our last eLetter. When you last heard from us we were travelling, but since being back things have gotten even speedier. We spent a week in Sydney with Tony Buzan at the Mind & Its Potential Conference, which was another great success, with about 1000 attendees. Tony's presentation grabbed the crowd and more that 200 attended his post conference workshop. We have been doing a lot of planning for 2012, and have set the dates for our programs around Australia, as well as in Florida, USA and South Africa.
We'll be in the US in February to speak at the Creativity Cruise and run a couple of programs in Fort Lauderdale - more on these later. Jennifer is off to Guangzhou, China on Thursday to run the World Memory Championships, with Tony Buzan, Dominic O'Brien and all her fellow World Memory Sports Council members.
A key project that we have just completed is our new 10 day ecourse on How to Mind Map. This is our way of adding value to you and saying thanks. Subscribe now
| HIGHLIGHTS To see an online version of this eLetter with all the graphics etc go to http://www.mindwerx.com/enews | The New York Museum of Modern Art acquires a Mind Map. To help remember and manage the unfolding issues of 9/11, our friend David Hill and his colleague Lisa Frigand used Mind Maps to help plan the rebuilding of Downtown Manhattan from a ConEdison perspective (ConEdison is responsible for Gas and Electricity in that part of New York). One of the Mind Maps was designed to capture the Who's Who as events unfolded - what organisation is involved where and who is chairing it etc. While it doesn't quite follow the rules of Mind Mapping (it should be landscape and only one word per line etc - Tony Buzan calls it a Proto Mind Map) it is a significant piece of history. So much so that the New York Museum of Modern Art has acquired it. Wow!
We have been sharing this Mind Map with participants in our workshops for years and it remains one of the best examples of how Mind Maps can be used. And that is really what Mind Mapping is all about - making information useful. In our public programs How to Mind Map and Advanced Mind Mapping To Get Things Done we focus on showing people how to apply Mind Mapping to achieve real outcomes. Read all about the Mind Map, and even download it on our Blog Page
| | iMindMap Home & Student ThinkBuzan has announced a beneficial change in the structure for the iMindMap Mind Mapping software. They have replaced the Professional and Elements versions into a consolidated range of three packages that are more clearly differentiated. - iMindMap Ultimate remains the premier edition, and is without doubt the best available Mind Mapping software.
- iMindMap Home & Student is an upgrade of the old Elements edition, with many of the Professional features added in.
It is ideal software for study and non-business use. - iMindMap Basic remains the free software that your trial version converts to when the 7 day trial completes.
Nothing will change for those who currently have Elements and Professional - these versions will still work perfectly. You will then have a choice if you upgrade to a later version. Want to know all about the new iMindMap? Go to our website www.imindmap.com.au and download a free trial version today.
| | Memory Champs & Sales Success On Thursday Jennifer takes off once again to Guangzhou, China to be Senior Arbiter at the World Memory Championships, and we thought it was timely to address a question we get quite often, which is... “Why? Why is memory important, and why would anyone want to develop superior memory skills, particularly to the astounding level we witness memory champions achieve?”. There are two questions here of course, and in his blog Bill addresses the second one first – why develop the astounding skills demonstrated by memory champions? The answer is quite simple really – to demonstrate the capacity of the human mind to excel – in many cases far beyond the norm. Just as athletes raise the bar of performance at the Olympic Games, Memory Olympians raise the bar on what the human brain can do. And boy do they raise it - like memorising 52 shuffled cards in 23 seconds! But of course it isn't just about astounding memory games, there is a serious side to memory, and indeed the connection between memory and success is now very clear. Bill looks at how improved memory can almost guarantee success in Sales in his blog, so have a read as soon as you can.
